In August of 2003, the seminal test of our power backup systems occured with the blackout of the northeastern United States and Canada. During this event, portions of Michigan (including the entire Detroit area) as well as several other states experienced a prolonged power outage. Lesser providers in the Detroit area failed to remain online during this time due to their inferior power backup schemes. We remained online and fully operational (though our building lights were affected) during this blackout.
