Canvas prints are often considered the top end of fine art prints. The cloth-like texture of a canvas print gives the picture a hand-painted look and feel. The differing options available for a canvas print is as vast as your imagination can conjour up. A canvas print can be unmounted (often called a Giclee canvas or Giclee print), mounted/laminated onto a finished piece of wood, or stretched acrossed wooden stretcher bars to create a "Gallery Mount" print that takes on a 3-dimensional effect.
When it comes to a Gallery Mount canvas, there are multiple options available for such things as the thickness of the stretcher frame (common sizes are 3/4" and 1-1/2"), how to print the sides of the print (common options are blank canvas, solid color, gradient color, mirrored from the edge of the print, and stretched from the edge of the print). Likewise, the finishing of the back of the Gallery Wrap canvas is just as varied: you can opt for the back to remain open, to be covered in a textured paper, or to be covered with matte board. Various hanging methods are also available as well.
Of course, the canvas material itself has multiple options available for it as well including the canvas finish (matte - the most common, satin and glossy) and even the construction of the threads that make up the canvas surface are options to choose from.
